That an Arctiid of some sort?
Yes, hot on the trail! What is your opinion of this shot? This was the best from a long series, but I assume it’s bothering me mostly because the lighting isn’t the best. Still haven’t shelled out for a flash… I assume that’s the issue?
Well, whatever it is I can’t find it anywhere in BugBuide or BMNA (the most comprehensive resources available to me). What is it?
Oh yes I didn’t answer! It is a female of Kodiosoma fulvum, illustrated on the Moth Photographers Group: http://mothphotographersgroup.msstate.edu/species.php?hodges=8167
It’ll have to follow up with a post on their biology, I’ve been rearing them and they just started eclosing last week.
