I morgen begynner stadiet 1 av feltarbeid / gal kjøring og ferietid. Jeg vil være fokusert på innsamling for denne fasen av turen, hitting southern Texas just in time for the tail end of fall flying moths in the genus Schinia. Men microleps er mitt primære interesse, and I’m sure I’ll come back with hundreds of stunning specimens. I’ll be taking as many photos as I can, and I hope to post an update as I hit Chicago just in time for Halloween. Of course if I do see something too incredible, I’ll have to try and post from my cell right away. As for stage II, it will be a visit with my family and friends back in Chicago, and stage III will be a quick drive back to San Francisco across I-80 with fingers crossed to avoid the snow. If anyone is en-route and wants to join me in the field, send me an e-mail!
Stay tuned and wish me luck.
What’s in Brackettville & Falfurrias, TX? I’ve been through south Texas quite a bit and haven’t heard these places mentioned.
I’m quite fond of the area just west of Del Rio along Hwy 90 near the Pecos River – great stuff there.
There is a fall fauna of woodboring beetles in the lower Rio Grande Valley that I’d love to looking at right now. Alas, I’m completely out of vacation time until January!
