Minden cél és szándék ez úgy néz ki, mint egy kék pillangó (mint alcsalád Polyommatinae)… nagyon, very blue after all. But assumptions based on color would lead you down the incorrect road; mint kiderül ez a pillangó valójában egy faj réz. There are subtle difference in wing shape and probably venation, de amikor először láttam ezeket a pillangókat azt feltételeztem, hogy volt egy al-faj Plebejus icarioides (ami voltak is repülő ezen a helyen a Kaibab Plateau). But then I began seeing female butterflies (alatt) kölcsönhatásban ezekkel blues és akkor felderengett bennem – blue copper – Lycaena heteronea austin (Lycaenidae: Lycaeninae)!
Ez az alfaj eredetileg leírt 1998 a késedelmes, nagy George T. Austin mint A. heteronea rutila. Given however that rutila more or less = rutilus, ez később meghatározandó rutila was actually unavailable and the subspecies name was changed to austin in honor of George.
