Schinia villosa

 

This Monday’s moth is a duo of Schinia villosa (Noctuidae) resting on what I am assuming is their host plant (Erigeron sp.). I snapped this shot around 9,000 feet up on the Kaibab plateau in Northern Arizona last month. A fire must have burned the area a few years ago . . . → Lees meer: Maandag Moth

Dit GOP is minder van een uitdaging en meer van een eenvoudige roundup van ellendige stock photography. Alex Wilde en anderen hebben lang geleden gewezen op de enorme tekortkomingen van veel voorraad fotosites – maar hier is een korte en pijnlijke lep roundup met behulp van Google.

Maandag Moth

Whoops, it’s almost Tuesday! Above is Schinia ligeae (Noctuidae) resting on its host plant Xylorhiza tortifolia, the Mojave Aster. I photographed this about three weeks ago outside the town of Big Pine, Californië. De kunst van een Goose Chase

Voor de laatste vier weekenden nu heb ik op een gans achtervolging geweest, voor een mot, Speedy Heliolonche. Het is een prachtige kleine uilen met roze voorvleugels en prachtige oranjerode achtervleugels. It isn’t very often encountered and only found along the northern California mountain ranges feeding on Malacothrix floccifera – een CA endemische bloem.
