Genius pressi, v.III

Yet another installment of my favorite series, the genius of the press. This article comes from ABC news, who can identify this caterpillar? It is decidedly NOT a gypsy moth.

Fellow entomology blogger Myrmecos had a similar story last week.

Peaga ära!

The monarchs have started their spring migration north and you might even see one soon (pole põnev, kui elate FL-is või HI-s, kus on aastaringsed elanikud, või CA-s, kus on eraldi talvitumiskohad). Teated nende talvisest asukohast Mehhikos on aga kurvad; with possibly the lowest . . . → Loe edasi: Peaga ära!

Ajakirjanduse geenius, II osa

Avaldatud Santa Barbara News Pressis, Talv 2009. Kes oskab öelda, mis neil pealdistel viga on?

Tema aeglustatud videod liblikõieliste elutsüklitest on üsna muljetavaldavad, ja see on eriti ilus. Kui lõikad umbes 3:00 aastal, you will see dozens . . . → Loe edasi: Time-lapse liblikad

OK liblikas inimesed, kes ma olen?

This is an old image of mine, so it’s not perfect. If you can tell me this butterfly to species you get a high-five. If you know the subspecies, I’ll send you a new pack of #3 stainless steel pins! Only hint: It’s from the western USA.

Avapostitus

Nii, how do I begin a new blog? Tough question, but perhaps this is a good time to show off a fun new species. This moth was collected last year outside of Santa Barbara, CA. The massive wingspan, at 15mm, makes it pretty large for a Gelechiid moth. The genus, Gnorimoschema (pronounced nor-a-mosh-ma), . . . → Loe edasi: Avapostitus
